A local business owner has released a colouring book all about Okotoks.

A Colouring Book Guide to Okotoks Alberta features 65 pages of Okotoks locales, complete with info and messages from local business owners.

It's the brainchild of Sherry Lindenback, owner of the 94 Take the Cake cafe and bakery.

Lindenback wants it to serve a few different functions.

"It is a book about the community, it's more than just a colouring book. It's what to do in Okotoks, what's exciting in Okotoks, why would you want to come to Okotoks? We really wanted to try and encapsulate all the amazing things that make up this great town."

It includes all manner of landmarks and businesses, Seaman Stadium, Elma Street, The Eagle 100.9, Songbird Studios, and the Foothills Country Hospice.

They're all rendered by Foothills artists 2AM Illustrations and Crystal Salamon.

The book also features several pages of postcards, which can also be coloured in and cut out.

Lindenback got the idea from her mother, who came across an Okanagan colouring book.

She loved the idea, and it conveniently fits with the aesthetic of Take the Cake's iconic black and white interior.

Sales from the books will also benefit local artists.

"I really wanted to create an art scholarship out of the book because the book is about creativity and expressing yourself, whether it's in colour, drawing, all these different areas. I wanted to take some of those proceeds from the book and create some scholarships to give back to the community. When I say 'art scholarship,' that can be anything that's artistic, whether it's dance, painting, music, any of those categories would be applicable," says Lindenback.

The books are selling for $19.99 and can be purchased at 94 Take the Cake, and several local businesses are also carrying them.
