Local businesses can share their stories of getting through the economic shutdown with the Okotoks and District Chamber of Commerce.

Jayme Hall, Executive Director for the Okotoks Chamber, says many businesses have had to think differently to get through the COVID-19 shutdown.

"They started to pivot their business model, and they started to do things that were maybe outside of the box. But, the mindset they had wasn't, "You know, I'm going to throw in the towel and I'm going to shut down," it was "How can I operate within these new restrictions, within these new guidelines," he said.

Hall adds it's important to share and document these successes.

"To hear about a business that was basically told by the government you have to shut down, and then figured out a way to operate safely and effectively. Those are just some incredible stories that we want to have a record of for the rest of time, because it's just been such an interesting year for so many people," said Hall.

The Chamber is looking for stories of how businesses have adjusted to the changing climate, shown resilience and pivoted their business models from local and home-based businesses, or from residents if they've noticed something about a business they'd like to share.

The stories will be showcased during Small Business Week in October.
