Support for local non-profits remains strong in the Foothills as the pandemic continues to take a toll on residents and charitable organizations alike.

One example is a recent donation campaign from Okotoks company Infinite Chartered Professional Accountants.

Near the end of September, the company resolved to select a handful of local non-profits to present the cheque and other donations.

ICPA partner Adam Stepa says they wanted to make a grander gesture and reach out to multiple non-profits who provide a diverse number of services.

"We kind of sat down as a group and came up with a number we wanted to donate, which was $10,000, then we selected some different charities within the town here and gave to them in a few different ways."

Five local organizations were chosen, those being the Okotoks Food Bank, Rowan House, Kidsport, the Foothills Country Hospice, and the Sheep River Health Trust.

Whereas three organizations received $2000 cheques, Rowan House and the Hospice received sponsorships for recent events: Breakfast With the Guys and the Rally 4 Hospice.

Stepa says they wanted to show some unity among local organizations, especially with many individual residents unable to support local non-profits due to widespread financial struggles.

"It's just important that we remember to support these kinds of organizations in these trying times, especially since they're going through more with those resources being tapped internally by clients and people that use those services. When we're all dealing with so much in the world right now, we can forget about these things."
