An Okotoks-based company will be featured heavily at this year's Grey Cup game at McMahon Stadium.

Grand Slam Sports was awarded a contract to work with New Era Cap Company to produce merchandise for the CFL's championship game.

They'll be producing t-shirts for the players, hats for the winning team, and the hats for retail to be produced after the winning team is decided.

Grand Slam's Owner Pablo Forno says they are itching to get started.

"We're probably going to be watching (the division final) games here at the shop, and as soon as somebody wins we are ready to go."

The designs are ready, the only thing they need to know are this weekend's results.

"The issue is we don't know who the last two teams are until this coming Sunday," said Forno. "As soon as Sunday ends we get going with merchandise for the final two teams, and then once the Grey Cup ends we get going with the championship items."

The Grand Slam employees had hoped Calgary might make the championship game, though hometown pride wasn't the only reason they were cheering for the defending champs.

"We were actually hoping the Stamps would be in the finals at least, because the amount of work that goes into that logo is a little bit less than, say, the Tiger-Cats," Forno laughed.

While the next couple weeks will be busy for Grand Slam, Forno is excited to be a part of the festivities.

"We're going to be meeting with the league, and we've got all kinds of cool stuff happening here over the next few weeks."
