The Okotoks Bisons were upset last night 6-4 by the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.

It was the opening game in their best-of-seven round two series, hosted in Okotoks last night (Feb 16).

The home team finished the regular season 33-2-1 and had a bye in the first round but Strathmore came out ready to play.

The Wheaties opened the scoring at the 2:57 mark of the first period and added two more on the power play to lead 3-1 after 20 minutes.

Both teams battled to a 4-4 tie after the 2nd period.

And then Strathmore scored with less than five minutes in the third to lead 5-4.

An empty net goal scored with 19 seconds left sealed the win for the Wheatland Kings.

Both teams square off again this Friday night in Okotoks for game two.

Games three and four will be played in Strathmore on Saturday night and next Tuesday.
