"Continuous" Exhibit by Monique Martin at the Okotoks Art Gallery

First of all, I find bees fascinating and I am very concerned about the plight of the bee.

Monique Martin has done a wonderful job with this exhibit, as I wandered through the beehive she created, I felt even stronger about helping to protect them. Seeing a beehive from this perspective made a powerful statement to me.

This exhibit is on display until June 18, 2016 in the small gallery and I invite you to take some time and stop by the Okotoks Art Gallery to experience it for yourself.

The description at the Art Gallery of this fascinating and beautiful works is as follows:

Continuous is an exploration of the fragile nature of existence, the interplay between humans and small creatures, and the communication patterns of our world using bees as the subject. The contemporary issue of the loss of bee populations is represented through the artwork, along with the historical links between bees and humans.

Monique Martin has created a paper beehive large enough for people to walk through. It features approximately 45,000 hexagons and 4000 bees.
