35 whollleee years!

That's how long the Okotoks Food Bank has been helping our community and they are celebrating in the coolest way possible; with a cookbook full of recipes inspired by the Foothills for the foodies of the Foothills. (SO COOL RIGHT!?) 

Chef Darren Nixon was hanging out with me in studio and spilled all the details on the cookbook as he's a member of the committee who decides what recipes will get to make an appearance in the book...I'm still trying to find a way onto this board so I too can eat delicious recipes throughout the new year! haha.

Basically anyone and any business in the Foothills is encouraged to submit a recipe - here are some of the guidelines:

• Inspired by our local community

• Accessible ingredients or suitable substitutions

• Limited processed foods

• Cost effective

• Any relevant history or stories about the recipe

Chef Darren said if he were to submit a recipe it would probably be a braised lamb shank with local ingredients like mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables on the side! *mouth starts to water* 

If interested in submitting your own recipe you can send it to - cookbook@okotoksfoodbank.ca -  DEADLINE IS JANUARY 15TH 2020.

Get in the spirit of giving and submit because proceeds from the future cookbooks will be donated to the Okotoks Food Bank!!!
