The Okotoks Oilers were on the road for a rare Thursday afternoon game.

They beat the Camrose Kodiaks 5-2 in the first of a home-and-home series.

Camrose opened the scoring in the first but the oilers came back to take a 2-1 lead in the second on goals by Austin Reschny and Dean Spak.

Okotoks added three more in the third from Rieger Lorenz, Ty Yoder and Riley Bodnarchuk.

The return match goes Saturday night at the Pason Centennial Arena at 7 p.m..

The Kodiaks are second in the south with 56 points while the Oilers sit fourth with 46.

The last time the Oilers played a game that started at noon was New Year's Eve when they were in Calgary and thumped the Canucks 10-0.
