With just three returnees in their line-up Saturday night, there was a lot of heavy lifting by the prospects as the Okotoks Oilers took out the Calgary Canucks 4-3 in overtime Saturday night.

One of the veterans that was in the Oiler line-up Matt McNair had two goals including the game winner just 13 seconds into the extra session.

McNair says it wasn't the best effort the team has had this pre-season, as the Canucks were able to comeback down 3-1 to force OT.

"We just kind of let off there a bit but I think we'll learn from it, we'll do some video and practice and be ready for Drum."

The Oilers improved their pre-season record to 2-2.

McNair says this team will be better as games progress.

"We were a little shaky at the start and you kind of expect that with a young team but I think we've got a lot to work with here and a lot of potential here."

The Oilers are done with home exhibition games as they'll be in Drumheller Monday and Brooks Tuesday.

The regular season opener goes September 16th in Drumheller.
