The Okotoks Oilers are in Camrose for a pair of games Friday and Saturday afternoon's as part of the AJHL's Showcase Weekend.

It's a great chance for the players to see and be seen by scouts at all levels, but is also full of pitfalls says Coach James Poole.

"The big part about the Showcase is obviously there's going to be a lot of scouts from the NCAA, C-I-S, NHL, WHL you name it. And it's very easy for players to get into the trap of wanting to showcase themselves individually."

Poole is stressing team success.

"Ultimately coaches and scouts want players that are going to help their teams win. And that's been the focus for our team is making sure our players understand that. They need to go and make an impact that's going to help our team win, and if they do that they're going to help our team. And obviously if we have team success, the individual success will take care of itself."

The Oilers take on Bonnyville Friday afternoon at 4:30 and then Drayton Valley Saturday starting at noon.
