The Okotoks Oilers had a home-and-home series over the weekend and came away with a split.
They had the hometown crowd on their feet on Friday night at the Centennial Arena in Okotoks with a 5-2 win.
Five different skaters scored for the Oilers with Hunter Sawka notching one of the goals along with an assist, and netminder Christian Green made 27 saves in his season debut.
However, the team couldn't keep their winning streak alive as they lost 4-2 in Blackfalds on Saturday night. Sawka scored again while Dean Spak added the other on a penalty shot. It was the first loss of the season for the AJHL club.
The Oilers now have a couple of days off as they get set to head into Calgary for this season's AJHL Showcase this upcoming weekend.
The Oilers take on Lloydminster this Thursday, Sept. 28 at 8:00 p.m. at the Max Bell Centre. You can listen to the radio play-by-play on The Eagle 100.9 and Okotoks Online starting with the pre-game show at 7:45 p.m.
Then they tangle with the Brooks Bandits on Saturday Sept. 30 at 5:00 p.m. with the pre-game show starting at 4:45 p.m.
