The Okotoks Oilers will look to go 4-0 in 2016 as they open up a two game stand Friday night when they welcome the Calgary Mustangs.

Okotoks is coming off a weekend sweep of the Canmore Eagles with hopes to stay pace with the Brooks Bandits and Camrose Kodiaks in the South Division.

The Oilers have won all three games so far this season against the Mustangs.

Head Coach James Poole says despite the wins so far in the new year, there's still another level of potential his club can get to.

"Looking back in December and the game against Canmore on Saturday I think we've played some poor hockey at home and that's an area we need to get a whole lot better in and we need to come out with some urgency right away and play a 60 minute game," he says.

The Mustangs are coming off the longest losing streak in AJHL history losing 29 straight games but Poole says they cannot take the Mustangs lightly.

"Doesn't matter who your opponent is, for us we can't just come to the rink thinking that we only need to show up against Brooks, Camrose or some of the top North teams we need to play a certain way night in and night out and that's part of that maturing process that we need to have as hockey on that's what we'll focus on this weekend."

The Oilers sit third in the South Division with a 22-15-2 record, nine points back of second place Camrose.

After Friday's tilt with the Mustangs the Oilers welcome the Drayton Valley Thunder on Saturday.

Game time for both games this weekend are at 7 p.m. at Pason Centennial Arena.
