The Okotoks Oilers got six goals from six different goal scorers, downing the Blackfalds Bulldogs 6-3 in Game 3 of their South Division Quarterfinal series on Tuesday night and taking a 3-0 series lead.

Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB) and Brett Huxley (Calgary, AB) both had one goal, two assist nights to lead the way offensively for the Oilers.

Bowden Singleton (Calgary, AB) had the first goal just 53 seconds in on a great feed from Huxley, tapping home a backdoor feed off the rush. Lorenz then doubled the lead at the 5:03 mark on a top shelf wrist shot from the slot. At 9:11, Huxley got his goal on a turnaround wrister from the high slot, and the Oilers had a 3-0 lead after the first.

Blackfalds got on the board on the first shift of the second, getting a Tye Carriere point shot tip just 21 seconds in. But the Oilers responded at 4:51 on the power play when a Riley Bodnarchuk (Okotoks, AB) point shot found its way through traffic and past goalie Lucas Massie for a 4-1 Oiler advantage.

The Oilers piled on in the third, getting a shorthanded goal from Brendan Boyle (Lake Country, B.C.) on a two-man breakaway with Lorenz at 5:52 in his first game since January 25th. Ty Yoder (Tofield, AB) then capped off the Oiler scoring with a quick release wrist shot at 8:21, scoring on the high shot from the right circle for a 6-1 lead.

Blackfalds got two quick ones back in the final minute, after a Deegan Mofford dump in took an awkward bounce past McNaughton at 19:25, and Kobe Assam scored from the high slot at 19:42. But the Oilers held on for the 6-3 win, with McNaughton stopping 23 of 26 shots in a 26-26 shot tie.

The teams will meet again in Blackfalds on Wednesday night in Game 4 with a chance for the Oilers to be the first team to win a playoff series in 2022.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM with pre-game coverage starting at 6:45 PM on The Eagle 100.9.
