The Okotoks Oilers extended their lead over the second place Camrose Kodiaks to four points in the AJHL's South Division thanks to a 5-2 win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons Thursday night at the Centennial Arena.

The Oilers didn't dominate from the start though as they fell behind 2-1 after the first period as rookie Brian Wilson got his first start between the pipes for the Oilers.

He wound up making 31 saves on 33 shots.

Oilers forward Danton Davis, who had a two point night with a goal and an assist, says they definitely started slow.

"May not have given them as much respect as we should. But I think we showed our dominance in the second and third (periods). We brought it together."

Connor Chambers led the way for the Oilers with a pair of goals.

While Keillan Olson, Braydon Jenkins and Davis all had singles.

The Oilers are in Camrose Friday night as they look to extend their first place lead over the Kodiaks to six points.

They'll also be looking to extend their current winning streak to six games.
