A 3-2 loss for the Okotoks Oilers as they opened the AJHL regular season Wednesday night in Drumheller.

The Oilers got off to a good start with Carson Beers getting the first goal of the game just 3:02 into the first period.

The Dragons answered back with a power play marker about four minutes later and then went ahead 2-1 just shy of the halfway mark of the first period.

Matt McNair tied it up for the Oilers just 30 seconds into the second frame, but the Dragons got the winner six and a half minutes into the second to round out the scoring.

Neither team could do much in a scoreless third period as they could only muster 15 shots between them in the final 20 minutes.

Next up for the Oilers, the Calgary Mustangs for their home opener Friday night at 7 o'clock at the Okotoks Centennial Arena.
