Not the outcome the Okotoks Oilers were looking for Saturday night as they hosted the Calgary Canucks.

The Oilers lost to the Canucks 5-2 which leaves the team currently sitting at 31-24-2 this AJHL season.

Connor Chambers, captain for the Oilers, says the team could've been more active on the ice.

"We didn't move our feet as much as we need to and we were kind of waiting to see what they were doing rather than going out there and playing our own game so that's what I thought was our downfall," he says. "A couple goals I think we want back but all in all I think we played ok and we'll be fine going forward."

Chambers says he's looking to push past the loss with playoffs on the horizon.

"They came out hard and they wanted to send a message to us because we're probably going to see them in the playoffs so they wanted to set the tone, but I think going forward we're going to come out hard and hopefully get these next two games and be on a good roll going towards the playoffs."

The Oilers have the week to regroup before they play back-to-back games against the Canucks on Friday at the Max Bell Arena and Saturday at the Pason Centennial Arena.

Both games start at 7:00 p.m.
