The Okotoks Oilers can put another win on the books after Friday night's win against the Olds Grizzlys.

The Oilers 5-4 win over the Grizzlys puts the Oilers at a 7 and 1 season to date.

The Oilers came out of the gate slower than preferred, but that has been something that the Oilers have been doing all season.

Oilers forward Tanner Laderoute says that it is something the team has to work on going forward it the season.

"It is going to come back and bite us if we don't figure out a way to start strong, but even with that it is great that we keep finding a way to regroup and come back flying."

Even with the slow start, the Oilers were able to come back and get the win.

Laderoute scored a short-handed goal in the second period while Nolan Thompson made it two short-handed goals for the Oilers in the third.

Laderoute says that those short-handed goals can be a game changer for any team.

"A lot of teams are a little lazier when it comes to their power play and coming back, so if you can pressure them and score on a power play than it kills all their confidence."

The Oilers take on the Brooks Bandits Saturday night at Pason Centennial Arena.

The Oilers and Bandits have met twice before this season with the Bisons coming out on top both times.

Ladderoute says that while so far this season the Oilers have had the Bandits number that can always change if they don't stay sharp and focused.

"We need to tighten up our defensive zone and make sure that we are in the right zone."

Oilers and Bandits face off at 7 o'clock Saturday night at Pason Centennial Arena.
