Jason Glass's shot at a world title took a blow Wednesday night as the "Battle of the North" got going in Dawson Creek.

The High River reinsman faltered on the opening night, taking out a barrel and finishing 30th.

The loss also drops him to seventh in the World Standings.

Okotoks Mark Sutherland finished 16th, about two and a half seconds back of the leaders.

High River's Jordie Fike was 17th.

Jess Willard from Milo was 32nd.

Rae Croteau Jr., Luke Tournier, Gary Gorst, Evan Salmond and World Standings leader Kirk Sutherland round out the top five wagons heading into night two of racing.
