NFR opening ceremony delayed because of shootings at UNLV

The official opening ceremony for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas goes today instead of last night.

The reason for the delay is due to the shootings that happened at the University of Las Vegas earlier this week.

Three people were killed, and one person was wounded in the tragedy and the shooter was also killed in a shootout with police.

Officials will observe a moment of silence today for the three victims.

Many local Canadians will be competing including Jeremy Buhler from Arrowwood in Team Roping.

Bull rider Jordan Hansen, originally from Okotoks, is also competing amongst others.
