The new traffic light is coming.

The intersection of Hwy 2A and 498th Ave. right by the High River Ag grounds is now being worked on.

Workers have the right-hand turning lane blocked off today heading eastbound on 498 Ave. while they work on jackhammering out the old concrete base of the former traffic light.

Once the concrete has been removed, they'll need to pour new cement which will take a couple of weeks to cure.

Then after the concrete has been cured the new traffic light with a turning arrow will be installed.

Volken Stevin, who maintains Alberta highways, says if all goes according to plan, we should have a new traffic light within a month if not less.

The original traffic light was taken out by a collision back on October 1 of 2022.
