A couple of local towns are planning to join a hockey league this fall for players 20 years of age and under.

The Canadian-American Junior Hockey League formed in January 2022 with six teams that had previously played in the Western States Hockey League.

Five of those teams were based in Alberta, the Barrhead Bombers, Cold Lake Aeros, Edmonton Eagles, Hinton Timberwolves and Vegreville Vipers.

The Vernal Oilers played out of Utah in the U.S.

Since then, the Edmonton Eagles have folded, and the Vernal Oilers moved to another league.

As of July 6th, the league's expanded, adding the Vulcan Rampage, the Southern Alberta Mustangs out of Stavely and the Northern Alberta Lightning from Viking.

The league's website doesn't have a schedule posted although the Vulcan Rampage Facebook page has a post where the team is urging players to attend a training camp.
