Some positive news for businesses like the High River Autoplex and Western Financial Group's head office.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says 24 Street Southeast is going to finally have the top lift put on it.

"This is 20-plus years that the Town of High River has neglected to finish that road off properly," he says. "This has been on our radar for the last eight years and we're finally just able to get to it with everything else we've had going on, so this is a big one to get that fixed."

He says it's come up in budget talks almost every year but got pushed down the list for one reason or another.

"There's a lot of work that needs to get done to get that road finalized but the top lift has never been put on that road so you've got manhole covers that are too high and other areas that have sunk and they're too low and anybody that's familiar with that road and has driven down that road knows that you almost get sick driving on that thing it'll wobble your car so much," Snodgrass says.

He says council's very happy to see it finally getting done.
