This weekend is Thanksgiving in Canada which means for most families it's a time to sit down and be thankful for everything we have.

My City Care in Okotoks is looking to make that 'most' into all with their Thank-Full Box campaign that provides thank-full boxes that contain everything a family would need to have a fantastic Thanksgiving.

Representative for My City Care Okotoks Tanisha Stromberg says this program is designed to let families breathe easy when it comes to those hard decisions.

"That's our heart with My City Care is recognizing that sometimes people go through hard times and we want to be able to not have them have to choose between having Thanksgiving and paying the bills or not having Christmas and paying the bills, so they can just enjoy all the magic."

Stromberg says they accept donations during this time and the process is easy enough.

"We are taking donations, so they can call us at 403-606-6812 and we'll make arrangements to grab that donation from them right up to Friday, October 9th's afternoon because on that afternoon we are packing and distributing"

My City Care is accepting any kind of food donation it does not have to be limited to dry or non-perishable.

"We are packing stuff up at Big Horn however some of our volunteers have donated fridge and freezer space so if they just call our number that's the easiest way to make sure it goes to someone who can keep it cold."

Stromberg says they are accepting anything you'd see at the thanksgiving table and are looking for some sweet treats in specific.

"We need pies! Anything that is in that Thanksgiving realm is good so turkeys, hams, gravy mix, cranberry sauce any of that stuff is all good but pies are the big one right now."

Those looking to help out can contact My City Care through their phone number or on their Facebook page.
