The Medicine Hat Mavericks would not go gently into that good night as they lit up the Okotoks Dawgs 11-6 Tuesday night in "The Hat" to cut the Dawgs lead in their opening round playoff series in half.

The Mavericks took it to the Dawgs early scoring five runs in the top of the first inning, including a grand slam to break it open.

The Dawgs chipped away though, as they managed to tie the game at five in the fifth inning.

They scored a run in the third and put up four more their half of the fifth

However, the Mavericks’ offence went to work again in the bottom half of the fifth, as they scored five more runs, which took the wind out of the Dawgs’ sails.

Both teams would add another run to their totals in the eighth.

Daniel Fredrickson went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Dawgs, scoring twice and picking up an RBI.

Brendan Hendriks went 2-for-5 at the dish, with three RBI's, thanks to a three run home run in the fifth.

He also crossed the plate once himself.

Brian Sisler went 3-for-5, scoring once and bringing in a pair of runs.

On the mound, Tyrell King started the game, going four innings.

King gave up six runs on three hits, walked three batters and struck-out three.

Chris Horvath replaced King, but didn't fare much better as he went just three innings giving up five runs on five hits.

The right-hander walked two and struck-out two and was tagged with the loss.

Brendan Stennis finished off the game, pitching one inning with no runs or hits, while walking two and striking-out one.

The Dawgs, who lead the best of five series, two games to one, will try again Wednesday night to eliminate the Mavericks.

If they need a game five, it'll go Thursday night starting at 7:05 back at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks.
