A Foothills landmark will soon be closing its doors.

Last week, Marv's Classic Soda Shop announced on their Facebook page that they'd be closing for good after the Labour Day long weekend in September.

The post gives some insight into the reason behind the closure.

"I find with the staffing situation today I am unable to go into another year. It saddens me as this was likely the last place in Canada to actually experience the sound of a vinyl jukebox or the 1920s trickle of the soda fountain."

The 50s-style soda shop and diner has been a Black Diamond landmark for 23 years.

Locals and fans of Marvs might get a chance to keep a piece of the iconic shop, as, according to Marv's, "Everything in the store is now officially for sale."

Their last day open is Monday, September 4.
