Locals compete in Ranch Horse Competition

An East Longview cowboy gets this year's Bar U bragging rights.

Jesse Thompson of the Black Diamond rodeo family, won the ranch horse competition at the National Historic Site on the weekend.

Event organizer Peter Swales says the weather cooperated for the most part at the crowd pleaser that features what horses do on the range.

"We're just showcasing how well they're broke and how well they handle cattle".

Peter Bews from south of Longview was second and Clint Swales of East Longview was third.
