"Support local" has been our motto over the last two years and it definitely should continue to be as we head into the last weeks of Christmas shopping!

I'm always a huge fan of those Facebook posts that ask local business owners and/or entrepreneurs to comment the name of their business and what they sell so it gives people opportunities to buy from shops and boutiques they weren't aware of before.

So let's see if we can get a Foothills version going!

Because how nice would it be to discover some new shops, finish your holiday shopping AND support local while doing so?!

Before you comment your local business or a local business that you love to support check out a few that I want to recommend, not because it's an ad or anything like that, simply because I like them! (Also I wish I could talk about ALL the local shops I love but I narrowed it down to a random 5.)

1. Austen Jewellers - Classic go to right here. If you're looking for jewellry, this family owned store is for you! They even restore and clean older pieces for you. Elyse and the team will have you leaving with the perfect piece for your loved one this Christmas!

 

2. An Honest Room - I bought the cutest gift in here the other day for my sister, so cute that I even got one for myself! A recipe book of cocktails inspired by iconic women. This shop is so lush, has the cutest Christmas ornaments /decor and the owners were so lovely!

 

3. Ivory + Embers - My go to candle place at the moment! Great scents, great aesthetic, great price and great owner! Bailey brings out themed candles all the time for the holidays and right now my fave is "comfort & joy". Find them online or in store at Main Street Market! (Also love Main Street!) 

 

4. Natura Soylights - Soooo, I didn't realize they do more than candles!? The candles  are also amazing here! (The London Fog smells so good you'll want to lick it!) but they do really fun gifts for everyone, it's almost impossible to go in and come out empty handed.

 

5. The Hidden Gem - Literally, the name says it all. The newest market style store in Okotoks that is home to TONS of local vendors (90+ to be exact!). You're basically supporting local twice through this store and once again you'll find something for everyone on your list!
