The players have been picked for the Alberta Box Lacross team and they only have a few days to prepare before they head to Ontario.

A total of 16 girls from Alberta have been chosen to represent their province at the upcoming Canada Summer Games in Niagra.

Okotoks-based lacrosse player Jordan Payne on one of the many hailing from all over the province.

"There's some girls from Cold Lake. There's some girls from Siksika. There's some girls from Red Deer, Edmonton all over the place."

Payne played for many years with the Okotoks Raiders and then moved up to Calgary to play with the Fury. She has mixed emotions but is excited to represent Alberta in the games.

"I'm pretty nervous but very confident. I feel we are going to do really, really good. We're a family and we know what's coming."

They will be facing rivals British Columbia and Ontario who have bested them in years previous.

The games open Saturday, August 6 and run to Sunday, August 21.
