As the House of Commons adjourns for the summer, attention will shift to the Conservative's leadership battle.

Foothills MP John Barlow says the sale of over 600,000 memberships across the country is fantastic.

"I think that just goes to show the enthusiasm around our Conservative party, the energy around the leadership candidates, to see Pierre Poilievre sell 312,000 memberships is just unbelievable," he says. "It's re-energized Canadians who certainly,  what they've gone through they've seen inflation and fuel prices and things like that and they're eager for a change."

Barlow has thrown his support behind the front runner Pierre Poilievre and will be working for him during the summer.

A new leader will be chosen September 10.
