Stats Canada has released the 2021 federal census data and all but one local community has grown.

Okotoks now has a population of 30,405, up 4.8 per cent from the last census done in 2016.

At that time the population was 29,016 or 788 people per square kilometre.

High River has also grown, from 13,594 in 2016 to 14,324, a jump of 5.4 per cent or 645.4 people per square kilometre.

The only community that saw a decrease in population was Vulcan which fell by 7.7 per cent although Vulcan County was up over six per cent.

Some of the biggest increases in Alberta were in Cochrane at over 24 per cent and Airdrie at 20 per cent.
