Local author, Lecia Cornwall, has released another historical romance novel.

This is Cornwall's second historical romance which combines two of her passions as she also sits as the board chair of the Museum of the Highwood.

And she's also authored some other romance novels which can be found on her website

'That Summer in Berlin' is set during the 1936 Olympics set in Berlin, Germany.

Cornwall says the 1930s was a fascinating time.

"And the '30s was a very fascinating decade and when I realized that the German Olympic Games were right in the middle of that in 1936 and while the Germans were declaring peace and friendship and brotherly love they were already preparing for war. I just thought that's a really fascinating place to set a story."

The main character, Viviene Alden, is a debutante from England who's visiting Berlin and teams up with a journalist. The journalist is actually based on one of Canada's most famous war journalists, Matthew Halton.

"I really loved the stories of the journalists, which is why I added a journalist in there. He's actually based on a Canadian from Alberta named Matthew Halton. And Matthew Halton was one of the most famous journalists in that era and I was lucky enough to go down to Pincher Creek and actually see his grave this summer."

The novel runs the gamut of espionage, courage, resiliency and romance.

You can find the book locally at Pixie Hollow in High River and through her website.
