As hockey seasons start to wind down players and coaches are getting ready for lacrosse season.

Larry Makortoff with High River Lacrosse says they are looking to get the real youngsters involved.

"We've got a couple of initiatives going, one with the Calgary Roughnecks, it's called the Little Roughnecks, so U7 will be called the Little Roughnecks and anybody that signs up for that will get a Roughnecks jersey and a stick to keep," he says.

They're also teaming up with Alberta Lacrosse.

"We're teamed up with the Alberta Lacrosse Association, they've got the curriculum and some of our coaches will be going into some of the schools here in High River, Nanton, Vulcan and hopefully Claresholm and we're going to spend two-to-four hours teaching the fundamentals of lacrosse."

He says juniors start Feb. 28 with their initial practice.
