The hot weather has had barbecues working overtime in Southern Alberta.

Ron Glaser with the Beef Information Center says it's no surprise that beef still tops the menu on the grill.

"Seventy four per cent of consumers said beef was the number one food they think of when cooking on the barbecue", says Glaser, "and Canadians are barbecuing more often, up thirty four per cent in the last four years".

Glaser says part of this year's summer promotion is an on line sweepstakes called Beef Bucks with a grand prize of 25 hundred dollars.
