Okotoks hockey fans were welcomed back to the Pason arena with a pair of games over the weekend.

The Okotoks Oilers hosted the Canmore Eagles in their home opener on Friday, taking the lead with the only goal in the first period.

The Eagles retaliated with four goals across the second period, and while the Oilers managed to land one of their own, things weren't looking good heading into the third.

Something must have stirred within the home squad, who evened the score 4-4 less than two minutes into the final period.

They didn't stop there though, putting away another three before the final buzzer, ending the day with a 7-4 win.

The Oilers didn't fare as well on Saturday when they faced the Drumheller Dragons.

The Dragons were up 3-0 heading into the third, and though the Oilers rallied and bagged three goals in the third, the Dragons landed another two themselves, leaving with a 5-3 win.

It was a similar outcome to the previous weekend, when the Oilers faced the Camrose Kodiaks twice in their season opener, again coming away with a win and a loss.

With that, Okotoks now sits with a 2-2 record.

They're on the road this week, facing the Spruce Grove Saints on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
