The Town of High River and the Highwood Curling Club have signed a new lease for the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says the club is getting a break because of the less-than-proper floors the club has to make ice on.

"What our administration did is negotiated a 50 per cent reduction in this year's lease rate the curling club pays to the Town for the lease of the space," he says.

The Town has applied for grant money for new concrete slabs under the curling club and small ice surface to be installed next summer.

"Once that work is done then the number will be negotiated back into what's a fair amount for the space with a new floor and everything else," Mayor Snodgrass says.

The lease agreement covers October 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021 at a cost of $15,700.
