The Town of High River's in good financial shape after the third quarter of the year.

Almost 80.6 per cent of the original operating budget, or $26.9 million has been spent.

"Everything's in line with the budget and considering the third quarter and what's been done ad what's left to do the budget is bang on in line with where we want to be," said Mayor Craig Snodgrass.

The Town has a surplus of $4.5 million due to timing differences between the project work and when the bills come in.

"Whether there's still some renewal projects that are in there there'll be some carry over to next year while those projects get finished up and then there's projects being finished up that are fully funded and paid for this year."

The Town has a capital budget of $39.3 million with $8.2 million of that spent up to the end of September.

Administration expects $27.4 million will carry forward to 2022 including $19.5 million in renewal capital projects and $7.9 million in Town capital projects.

The Town's required to spend all of the $19.5 million by the end of 2022 or the money will have to be returned to the province.
