Smiles were everywhere as runners showed up for the 20th annual Servus Credit Union High River Half Marathon on Saturday Sept. 10.

The half marathon also has a 10 km, 5 km and a kids fun run which starts and finishes at George Lane Park in downtown High River.

What started off as a chilly morning warmed up thanks to some coffee, a warm-up courtesy of Jody Hipkin's from High River Fitness and some sunshine.

The half marathon got underway at 8:30 a.m. with the kids run returning this year which kicked off at 9:00 a.m.

The event is in support of FAIM, Foothills Advocacy in Motion, who's mission is to promote inclusion for persons with developmental disabilities within our local communities of the Municipal Districts of Foothills and Wheatland County.

Once again this year local businesses showed their support for the fundraiser with Servus Credit Union serving as the main sponsor and GM Mechanical again sponsoring the bibs, including bibs for the kids.

Along with dozens of other local sponsors the participants were kept fed and hydrated thanks to of Sobeys, Colossis, Highwood Crossing and the Lions Club cooked up pancakes and sausages for everyone.
