The High River Flyers of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League open training camp this weekend.

New Head Coach Bruce Perrins says considering the fact the team didn't play last season he's starting from scratch.

"To be honest it's really a brand new start, we're not sure how many players we're actually going to have at camp right now but we know there's lots of Junior A camps that are running the same weekend and there'll be people coming back after that," he says.

Players were released to play for other teams when the Flyers suspended operations last season and Perrins doesn't expect them to be back.

"There's a couple playing in Okotoks and they'll probably stay there and so right now we don't think there's anybody coming to play here."

Camp is being held at the Cardel arena at the south end of Calgary since the Rec-Plex ice isn't quite ready.

Perrins was happy to see all the kids come out to the equipment swap at the Rec-Plex and how excited they were to get the season going.
