The High River Brewing Co. Flyers picked up a huge win in Medicine Hat last night.

They beat the Cubs 8-6 in their own lair Tuesday night leapfrogging them over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings into the final playoff spot in the HJHL south division.

Flyers leading scorer and rookie Connor Smith scored the opening goal of the game, his 26th of the season, as the teams battled it out for the remained of the game.

The teams were knotted up at three apiece after the first period and were all tied up at six with less than seven minutes in the game.

Then Flyer Brandon Jarman scored what would be the game winning goal, and his second of the game, on assists from McCallum Bakken and Ethan Burgeson at the 17:26 mark.

An empty netter from Alex McIsaac sealed the deal with 14 seconds left in the game.

Kashton Payne backstopped the Flyers in net saving 26 of the 30 shots on net.

The Flyers now have two games left in the regular season while the Wheatland Kings only have one game left.

And the Cubs are coming to the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex this Friday to tangle again with the Flyers, if the Flyers win, they're in the playoffs.

The Kings have a must win game on Saturday night to have any chance of catching the Flyers.  However, the Flyers also have a game lined up on Saturday in Coaldale.  Both the Cubs and Copperheads are fighting for playoff positions.
