The Heavy Armoured Combat Sports Association was scheduled to head to Spain for their chance to represent Canada in the HASCA world cup.

HACSA’s trip cancellation was among many other things that were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

President of HACSA Richard Manns says they had to stop all of their practices and tournaments scheduled for the near future.

“We put on regular practices, we put on regional events, tournaments. We have a number of events such as the Strathmore event, the June tournament, all of that is cancelled, all of our practices are cancelled, all of our get-togethers cancelled. Even getting together for guys to repair their armour for the next fight, no one is gathering at this point, literally, everything that we have been planning and doing has been cancelled”

Manns says the cancelled trip to Spain was originally set for April but was postponed as everything happened.

“They said that it would be postponed until September but we aren’t entirely sure, we were originally set to fly out from April to May for the world championship but that was kiboshed for right now and hopefully just delayed or it will be delayed to next year.”

HACSA is now looking forward to their future saying they are planning to set up a league of some sort.

“I’m hoping in the next couple of months we start setting up tournaments and moving forward on our league, what we are hoping for is this to take off, People are really interested in this sport as soon as they see it, everyone that does this loves it and everyone that tries it loves it”

Manns says they are looking to building the sport in Canada.
