About 850 homes in the northwest part of High River were without power earlier this afternoon when a gravel truck took out a power pole near the Highwood Golf Club.

The Manager of Corporate Communications Tanya Croft says there are now just under 600 homes without power but it should be restored before 2:00 o'clock.

She says power at the golf club won't be restored until about 7:00 tonight because of work replacing the downed power pole.

According to Fortis crews are working to have the power restored as soon as possible.

Traffic lights are out at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Centre Street near the Tim Horton's and Fas Gas.
