The Okotoks Garden Club's Swap & Sale is coming up tomorrow.

It's a chance for seasoned gardeners and newcomers alike to trade and acquire new plants and meet fellow enthusiasts and they'll be raising funds for the Rowan House Society.

Karen Keetley with the Garden Club says it's a great place to garner advice too.

"If you have any questions about how to grow anything, whether it's veggies or whether it's flowers, we have volunteers from the garden club there to help out with any question that anyone might have."

The club asks those bringing plants to avoid certain species.

"One thing we do ask all our people who are going to be bringing plants is please make sure it's not a noxious weed. One way to know whether your plants are noxious or not is to Google the Invasive Plants Alberta website and they'll tell you everything you need to know about plants that shouldn't be in your yard," says Keetley.

They'll also have a silent auction, with items having been donated from several local nurseries and greenhouses.

Each year, the club shares their proceeds with a  local charity. This year it's Rowan House.

Rowan House's executive director Linette Soldan says support like this is vital for the organization.

"We have not had an operational increase in almost a decade, so the operational pressures we're facing right now are real and it's been a challenge, This is going to be so important to us. We could not do it without the community and special people like the Okotoks Garden Club."

Proceeds will help fund Rowan House's many support programs like their 24-hour emergency support line, emergency shelter, Outreach Support, Preventative Education, and Safe at Home program.

The Swap & Sale is being held near the Operations Centre at 1118 North Railway Street

Plant check-in is from 9:30 to 10 a.m.
