The Okotoks light tour is up and running with over a dozen houses making it to the official Christmas Light Tour & Contest map. With a wide range of different lights, styles and decor, be sure to grab the family and take part in this year's lineup of lights.

Located in Cimarron Vista, there is a little cul-de-sac where seven neighbours all lit up their homes right next to each other.

One of the houses is kept in the holiday spirit by two teens says owner Jeff James.

"We have 18-year-old twin boys, and they just love Christmas. They deck out the whole house themselves. They go out and buy all the stuff and throw it up. It's all them, they do all the work and I just sit here and watch."

Just a few doors down is Daniel Novello, who estimates they have around 3900 lights on their home.

"We like to keep an elegant theme and have everything flow."

Across town, Jason Allen in Drake landing has been building on his house each season.

"I add and take away rows every year. 5,000ish I would think. I’m running out of real estate to add to."

However, one of the brightest you'll see is located on Cimmaron Boulevard.

Owner James Litwin took a more modern approach to his one-of-a-kind display.

"It's a musical and interactive light display. We set it up for Halloween and then also for Christmas. Then we'll also change the music for New Year's and so it will be different every week."

The house is covered with dozens of light panels, all synced to speakers located outside his home.

"Hopefully people enjoy the lights around here. I see lots of other houses with lots of fancy lights, so we figured we'd one-up everybody and see what we could do. We have a good place on Cimmaron Boulevard here where people can see the lights, so we figured we'd set up a display.

"We’ve had some good feedback. The cops have only had to come once."

However, some don't enjoy the Christmas cheer according to a Facebook post made by James showing a passerby kick one of his speakers while walking their dog.
