As always, one of the biggest highlights of the summer for some Okotokians is the local rodeo.

Hosted at the Millarville Racetrack Friday through Sunday, Aug. 27, 28, 29, folks were able to fill the grandstands and enjoy the long-awaited return of Okotoks Pro Rodeo action.

Their marketing director Trevor Reidy says this year's event was outstanding in more ways than one.

"This was probably our most successful year in the last three. We fought with weather for a couple of years, 2018 and 2019, and of course, last year was a year off, but this year was outstanding as far as spectators and in performance with competitors and the livestock."

The grandstand filled out nicely, and spectators were treated to a wide variety of talent, including some local rodeo athletes.

"As far as the number of people attending, it was pretty much a record year for us. We were really, really pleased with that and really, really happy with the number of people that attended the rodeo."

Reidy says the more people the better and that they're looking forward to seeing everybody out again next year.
