Okotokian and para-athlete Zak Madell is currently overseas in Tokyo getting ready to battle for the gold in wheelchair rugby.

He will be letting us know what life is like in the Olympic Village throughout his time there.

One thing that surprised him was the cafeteria on site. 

"As far as COVID protocols go, I wouldn’t say there were any big surprises. The wildest part is the dining hall where they make you sanitize, wash, wear gloves and then sit at tables with plastic dividers between each seat."

He says even though restrictions are tight, he has made some international connections.

"Ideally we are supposed to eat with fellow Canadian’s whenever possible, to reduce our exposure. However, I have had to opportunity to make a few new international friends from mealtime conversations."

He plays on Wednesday against Great Britain at 3:30 a.m. our time.
