Foothills School Division has issued an update on the lockdown that took place at Foothills Composite High School last week.

The lockdown was initiated after a report of a weapon that has been confirmed to be a replica firearm.

An RCMP investigation determined there was no plan or credible threat against students or Comp employees.

A statement from Principal Vince Hunter was sent to parents and media outlets this afternoon:

"As you will no doubt understand, only certain details can be provided to our community regarding an incident while law enforcement are actively responding. Only upon the completion of their investigation can details be shared."

RCMP does not plan to lay any charges as a result of the incident.

The lockdown was initiated around 1:00 p.m. on Friday and was lifted around 2:30 p.m.

Hunter's full statement can be viewed here.
