Voters in Okotoks have no need to worry about how to get to and from polling stations for this year's municipal election.

Okotoks Transit is offering free rides for voters to and from the Okotoks Recreation Centre or the Foothills Centennial Centre

David Gardner, the transit specialist in Okotoks, says they've set up a promo code for people to book their free rides in advance.

"We have set up a promotion code in our technology in our app which will allow you to book a ride on the days for advance voting and for election day. And that code is vote, VOTE, and that will discount your ride 100 per cent of the cost."

He says they're making the free ride option available before and after voting hours as well.

"What we've done is we've set it up to be available for up to four hours before and after each voting session. Perhaps somebody is going to the recreation center anyway to do a workout or something, then they can go earlier and take advantage of that free ride."

Okotoks Transit is already quite busy, especially in the afternoon, so Gardner says it will be all hands on deck for both advance voting days and on election day.

"There are obviously some of those days when it's on a weekday in the afternoon, many of the residents would know that transit is under pressure, so if you do want to take advantage of the service, I do suggest you try and book early so that you can get your ride."
