Foothills County continues to seek feedback on its Business Licence Bylaw.

Reeve Delilah Miller says a couple councillors noticed some neighbouring municipalities didn't have a business licence requirement so they've decided to get input on their bylaw.

She says they want to find out if there's value in having a business licence.

"Some people want a business licence to show they're a credible business, others need it to order from wholesalers, you need a valid business licence, some people find benefit in it because they join local Chambers of Commerce to get a better rate on their VISA and Mastercard so there's a variety of reasons supporting having a business licence," Miller said.

She pointed out that Rocky View County does not have a licence requirement because they feel it impedes business opportunity.

They're also looking for feedback on the whole fee structure, whether fees should be higher, lower, monthly or yearly, or whether there should be a regional licence, although that would require the county to work with other municipalities so they were comparable.

The Bylaw covers the rural county along with Blackie and Cayley although it does not cover Longview because they don't have jurisdiction there.

The survey closes April 15, 2022.
