The Foothills "AA" Midget Bisons have made some changes to how they do things this year.

Long time volunteer Greg Beauchamp says instead of having their own board, they've come under the wing of the Foothills Minor Hockey Association.

"Hockey Alberta has now developed a new "AA" model. In "AAA," where there's draw zones, and inside those draw zones, they have centres. And so now, the Foothills Minor Hockey Association, which is High River and Blackie is the centre for the new model and there's now a sub-committee running that "AA" program instead of an actual association like what was running before."

Beauchamp says one of the other benefits is because of the size of the draw zone and the rule changes, they'll be able to affiliate more players from around the area, giving them access to better coaching, even if they don't make one of the Foothills Bisons teams.

He says in the meantime, they're busy getting ready for the upcoming season.

The Bantam Bisons will continue to play out of the Tom Hornecker Arena in Nanton this year, but the "AA" Midgets will call High River home.
