Banff National Park officials have reported the first bear sighting of the season.

Park Officials are reminding the public to be extra vigilant when you are visiting Banff National Park.

They recommend packing bear spray, staying on the trail, keeping pets leashed and checking for tracks or scat.

If you do spot a bear you’re asked to report it to Banff Dispatch at (403) 762-1470.

And they have more safety tips here.
